What is Hip and Knee Pain?
Hip and knee pain refers to discomfort, stiffness, or instability in either or both joints. This may be caused by injury, overuse, arthritis, muscle imbalances, or post-surgical recovery. These joints support much of your body’s weight, making them especially prone to wear and tear over time.
Hip and knee pain can range from occasional soreness to constant, debilitating discomfort. Early evaluation and intervention can prevent the issue from worsening and help restore healthy movement patterns.
What Causes Hip and Knee Pain?
The causes of hip and knee pain are often mechanical, structural, or degenerative. Osteoarthritis is a common culprit, as are muscle imbalances, improper gait mechanics, ligament or tendon injuries, or previous trauma. Surgical procedures, including total hip or knee replacements, also require specialized rehabilitation to restore full function.
Postural issues and altered walking patterns can also contribute to chronic strain on these joints, eventually leading to pain and dysfunction that limits mobility and independence.
